As we go about our everyday lives, we meet different people from different spheres of life, and when you're in the fashion world, you'd get to meet a lot more people if you've got the right connection.
In my short time being a tailor, I've met more people than I would have if I was doing something else- there are people who love clothes, see what I do and choose me to be the one who helps to keep their skin nicely covered!
Ok, so I met Nacha...
She's a sister to one of my customers and we met when I had to make them dresses for their sister's wedding. We got talking and I found out she's a fashion photographer and she came up with the idea of we doing something together... she says "Foluso, I'd like to do a photoshoot, come along with a good piece and I'd be inviting my other friends in the industry, these are people who live around as well.''
I decided to go with this colour-block dress I made a while ago since I didn't know the particular model coming and thought it shouldn't pose a fitting problem. So we all came together- the photographer, models, bag-maker and me, the dress-maker, representing our 'hood Festac town and this is what we came up with... enjoy!

' EVERGREEN'
In loving memeory of Dad...
Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys, different paths along the way,
we all were meant to learn somthings but never meant to stay.
Our destination is a place far greater than we know.
For some the journey is quicker, for some it is slow,
And when the journey finally ends,
we'll claim a great reward and find everlasting peace together with the Lord.
...3years on, and the memory of you remains EVERGREEN.
When a loved one dies, though the tears that flood the eyes eventually sieze to flow,
those that flood the heart forever remain...

My Portfolio
Whenever a portfolio is mentioned, what comes to mind is a case for holding loose papers, a type of briefcase or a presentation of one's work samples and skills. Now by 'my portfolio', I don't mean any of those, I'm talking about my gold portfolio clutch bag!
I actually got it for Christmas from 'Mr Anonymous'... oh well, I later found 'twas 'Mr Familiar'...LOL! Lemme save you the details!
When I first saw the portfolio bag at a friend's who deals in bags and shoes (Divanista), my eyes and mouth opened in wild surprise, 'cos it was massive compared to the way it looked in photos. Actual size is 10 by 15 inches, so you know what I mean and wonder little why its called a portfolio.
So I've got this pink chiffon dress with multi-coloured stones...
...and I'm thinking which bag would be more suitable for the dress between the gold portfolio and a colour block over sized clutch, having green shoes on...
So which do you guys prefer? well I'd go for the portfolio because its a better contrast to the whole outfit plus its impressively large- bigger is better!
Fancy the portfolio? checkout 'Divanista' - http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/DivaNista/168839673170445 www.memoirsofadivanista.blogspot.com
you just might get yours!
... yours fashionably!

Memories of last Christmas
Happy new year and a merry Christmas it was, as it just slipped by barely a month ago. Christmas is always a time to share and show more love bearing in mind the reason for the season which is God's love to us through Jesus.
I've grown up with always having Christmas decor around the house- the lights, Santa's image in different forms, cards, balls and bows hanging on the Christmas tree...oh yes the tree- there are always two packages placed on its branches, one each from mummy and daddy, waiting to be opened only on boxing day, but has reduced to one ever since daddy moved to heaven...*silence*
But then Christmas is never complete without a new dress...'christmas dress', lol! and its got to have a touch of one or all of the colours of Christmas- red, green, gold. so I thought...I'm gonna make me a jacket...a lace jacket...a green lace jacket! I've owned dresses and tops made of lace, even shoes, bags and other accessories but not a jacket.
So I bought the fabric, got to work, finished ,embellished it with a red bow I picked up from an accessory store. So here's me looking 'christamasy'...
PS. everybody loves the green jacket!
...And here's me just chilling on a Christmas afternoon
